Memories, pictures, tales told by a single guitar. The palette is from joyfully vibrant colours through moody pastels even to black and white. In short, that’s the music of Tamás Szőke, a Vienna based guitarist.
Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary he learned and listened classical music from his early childhood. As teenager he turned to rock/metal what led him to pick up a guitar. But this move doesn’t meant the past experiences were left behind: he studied classical guitar, theory, rock and country/fingerpicking. Those latter studies guided him towards the modern solo acoustic guitar masters.
What’s better to learn about the bests? Learn from them directly! As result of many travels around Europe for concerts and workshops he were able to merge his influences to a coherent voice. Take the rhythmical twists from progressive rock, blend into the modern acoustic guitar’s voice and use the classical music to control the overall structure. The details of the songs will often surprises you, but never shocks.
Anything he learned, was immediately built into his musical activities. Regularly wrote articles and interviews, held guitar demos and workshops.
- Demo Day contest winner at the Acoustic Strings guitar festival in Raalte, Netherland.
- Support artist for Peppino d’Agostino (Firenze, I) and Peter Finger (Vienna, A)
- Budapest Fringe Festival as invited artist
The main drive for his pieces are moments from life, and the goal to transform those sparkles to music for the audience. Every song is a story, and welcome to listen at home or live!
